Dr. Brooke Biddlecombe’s research interests broadly focus on the ecology of marine mammals in Arctic ecosystems, with a particular interest in responsible and inclusive management. Her research has involved work in multiple locations across the Canadian Arctic, studying beluga, narwhal, bowhead whales, walrus, killer whales, and polar bears. Brooke’s current research with the University of Alberta and Polar Bears International focuses on the co-existence of tourism activity and polar bears near Churchill, Manitoba, the “polar bear capital of the world”. Brooke completed both her Bachelor of Science specializing in Ecology and Master of Science in Ecology at the University of Alberta, and her Doctorate in Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba. Brooke was born and raised in Alberta and currently lives on Treaty 6 territory in Edmonton, where she spends her downtime enjoying the outdoors and cuddling her two dogs.
